A loT lot of people are talking about the Internet of Things. These things can also communicate with each other and then send people information on their smartphones. With sensors. Sensors can receive information, send information, and trigger actions to take place.

If you place a sensor somewhere around your house or attach it to a physical object or thing, it can send information to your phone, or to any other object or thing. Like this. You can use your smartphone to send different commands back to your things and tell them what to do.

What should I talk about with my things? The whole idea is to customize your sensors so that they send you notifications when things happen that are important to you, and to get your things to automatically do what you want them to do.

How do I customize a sensor? How do I get my things to do what I want them to do? Like this? No, with an app. And if you attach a sensor to your front door, you can press 1999 fleetwood bounder fuse panel button and tell it to lock or unlock—wherever you are. So my solution was to use SmartThings as the hub, the Fibaro as the temperature probe, a hot plate attached to a smart outlet as the heat source THEN use Stringify as the thermostat control. I worked for about a week trying different versions of the SmartThings custom device handlers.

There are conflicting instructions on how to reset the FGKx device. This procedure seemed to work better than the instructions that reference touching the sensor body with the magnet.

Here is what finally worked: A. Remove device from SmartThings and add it back in. THEN, removed the battery from the sensor and put the battery back in.

If you have changed the type of an existing device, it is very important to update the device's settings to ensure the device instance is fully initialised and ready for use with the new device handler.

Note: Android users may encounter some errors in the SmartThings app after a device type has been changed. This can usually be resolved by completely closing the SmartThings app and restarting it.

I was able to link the sensor to the SmartThings Hub without difficulty. Although, I get a message saying that it failed to complete the network security exchange. Despite the warning above, the FGFS Flood Sensor it Is correctly reporting what condition the sensor is in to my iPhone within a few seconds of getting wet.

Your flood sensor implements a basic "alarm", so SmartThings will show that basic alarm. Does that explain why at least something works? But no settings! Any switch looks like a switch, any dimmer like a dimmer. But extra's, like "setting a minimum dimming level" is beyond that basic functionality.

It seems your controller does not know the specific sensor "FGFS" - so it does not display any configuration options. That is the way Z-Wave works.

Basic functionality is supported by all devices and all controllers. Showing a nice configuration page, with all the parameters and what they mean, is optional and depends on support on your controller, by the manufacturer of the controller.
